Kitchen Lab

The Kitchen Lab is still in the very early stages of development and is therefore not yet usable.

The Kitchen Lab is all about cooking, sustainable food utilization, and culinary experimentation. In the future, you will find a professionally equipped stainless-steel commercial kitchen with all the utensils and appliances needed for a wide range of food-related applications. Whether it’s cooking together as a team event, making chocolates using custom-designed molds, or preparing vegan cheese: this is the place to get creative and let your culinary imagination run free.

Anything missing from your own kitchen will almost certainly be available in the Kitchen Lab: from high-performance blenders and combi steamers to blast freezers and immersion blenders, the lab offers versatile equipment for many purposes. As long as it complies with food hygiene regulations and is not harmful to humans, it can be processed in the Kitchen Lab.

Despite its compact size of 17 m2, the kitchen offers numerous culinary possibilities thanks to its clever layout and design. Experimenting with food can also be an integral part of the lab. There are hardly any limits to your own project ideas: extracting colorants from food, producing plastic from milk, or using starch as a binding agent for bioplastics are just a few examples of potential experiments in the Kitchen Lab.

"I’ve been part of the Makerspace team since 2020 and have contributed to building it up in various areas. For the past two years, I’ve been supporting Dietmar in the metal workshop, where I bring in my knowledge and experience. As a trained carpenter, I’m also happy to help with any questions related to wood and enjoy bridging the gap between different materials. In addition, I have experience in 3D printing. Sharing knowledge and developing creative solutions together is very important to me."
