Status and Usability
The Makerspace – continuously under development
Our work areas are being set up and put into operation throughout the entire project duration of the Worldfactory Start-up Center. The starting point was formed by the Rapid Prototyping Lab, the Media Lab, the Co-working Areas, and the Project and Seminar Rooms on the Ground Floor. Additional workshops will gradually be brought into operation. Even beyond the setup phase, things will continue to evolve, because a makerspace can never truly be “finished” — it develops continuously through a wide variety of uses and projects.
Availability of Machines and Equipment
Due to renovation work, expansions, maintenance, repairs, and similar activities, it may happen that certain machines and devices cannot be used temporarily because they are out of service or have not yet been put into operation. If you depend on something specific for your project, please contact the respective contact persons in advance by email or phone!
Info boxes on the status of individual areas
On these pages, you will find notes in various places about the status of areas or equipment that look something like this:
This area is under development – click for more information
Sometimes you will find additional information here about when changes are expected in the respective area. In many cases, however, we are unable to predict this ourselves.
‘Working folders’ with more information
The goal of these web pages is to provide a reasonably compact and generally understandable overview of our facilities. For actual use, however, we all naturally need various additional information and materials such as operating manuals, safety instructions, templates and samples, tutorials, and more.
We collect this type of material in public ‘working folders’ for our work areas. Links to working folders look like this:
Go to the ‘RUB Makerspace’ working folder with additional materials
In this folder, you will find additional documents for all areas of the makerspace, such as operating manuals, safety instructions, templates and samples, tutorials, and other resources intended to make your work easier.
**As always: Together we are stronger — we appreciate every contribution to our shared knowledge and experience collection! **
The working folders are not a direct part of our website, as they are being built up gradually by different people and continuously developed further.
By the way: Since we use Sciebo – the university cloud to manage the folders, all Sciebo and Owncloud users can add the folders directly to their own cloud. Everyone else can access the folders through any web browser.
