Public Institutions without RUB Affiliation
The RUB Makerspace is meant to be a place for everyone! That’s why we are also available to public institutions that are not affiliated with RUB. For example, vocational schools, clubs, or other initiatives can carry out their own projects with us and help drive social change.
To keep our services affordable for everyone, all public institutions receive a 50% discount!
Projects
The RUB Makerspace supports makers in bringing their ideas to life!
Individuals and groups can complete the required trainings with us and then work independently on their projects.
Training sessions and usage times are billed, and materials must be procured and brought along by the participants themselves.
Usage Times
Groups from public institutions with at least 5 participants can arrange dedicated appointments with us. After completing the general safety briefing and the relevant machine training, groups may use the machines as long as their certifications remain valid (maximum 1 year).
Renting Spaces and Rooms
Innovation processes, as well as events and gatherings, benefit from special places like the RUB Makerspace. Everything here is different—colorful, creative, and inspiring! We offer individual rooms, event spaces, or even entire floors including seating and IT equipment for rent.
Please submit an individual request using the contact form.
Cooperation in Teaching and Research
Institutions seeking access to cutting-edge research and numerous excellently equipped facilities are welcome to collaborate with the RUB Makerspace at any time and develop their own joint formats.
Education and Training
With its wide range of workshops and laboratories, the RUB Makerspace makes it possible to look beyond the boundaries of one’s own institution and meaningfully expand existing formats with focused topics—for example, to promote digitalization or 21st-century skills in education.
Special Target Groups
The RUB Makerspace is intended to be a place for everyone. That is why we strive to make it accessible to as many groups as possible through measures such as high accessibility standards, gender-neutral sanitary facilities, and particularly high occupational safety standards. Nevertheless, for legal, safety-related, and/or insurance reasons, we must prohibit certain individuals from working with machines in the RUB Makerspace. These include:
- Children under 12 years of age. They may only observe in the Makerspace under supervision.
- Young people under 16 years of age if no parent or legal guardian is present.
- Young people under 18 years of age without a consent form from a parent or legal guardian.
- Pregnant individuals, as many hazardous activities are carried out in the RUB Makerspace and direct contact with hazardous substances may occur.
- Individuals with health limitations that do not allow or cannot sufficiently guarantee safe operation of machines.
Please inform us in advance about any limitations, and we will do our best to find a way for you to work with us.
Thank you for your understanding!
