Private Individuals without RUB Affiliation
The RUB Makerspace is meant to be a place for everyone! That’s why we open regularly on Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm, so that private individuals can also work on their own projects with us. To keep our services affordable for everyone, all private, non-commercial projects receive a discounted rate of 50% off!
Particularly committed users also have the opportunity to apply for a so-called WildCard. WildCard members actively contribute to the Makerspace community and, in return, receive additional benefits and are also allowed to schedule appointments outside of the Open Makerspace hours.
Projects
The RUB Makerspace supports makers in bringing their ideas to life!
Anyone can complete training sessions with us and then work independently on their own projects.
Training sessions and usage times are billed, and materials must be purchased and brought along by the users themselves.
Usage Times
Private individuals can use the RUB Makerspace during Open Makerspace hours (Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm) with a confirmed booking, either to attend training sessions or to use machines—provided the respective training has been completed and is still valid (maximum 1 year).
Questions and Consultation
At the RUB Makerspace, it’s all about making things yourself! That’s why our training sessions cover everything necessary for the safe use of our machines. Anything beyond that must be researched independently. We are happy to point you to tutorials or help with brief questions. For more in-depth project consultation and questions related to design, materials, or idea development, our diverse team can provide additional expertise in the form of paid consulting.
Our consultation time normally costs €43 per 20 minutes.
Special Target Groups
The RUB Makerspace aims to be a place for everyone. Through measures such as high accessibility, gender-neutral sanitary facilities, and particularly high occupational safety standards, we strive to make the Makerspace accessible to as many groups of people as possible. Nevertheless, due to legal, safety-related, and/or insurance requirements, we must prohibit certain individuals from working with machines in the RUB Makerspace. These include:
- Children under 12 years of age. They may only observe in the Makerspace under supervision.
- Young people under 16 years of age without a parent or legal guardian present.
- Young people under 18 years of age without a signed consent form from a parent or legal guardian.
- Pregnant individuals, as many hazardous activities take place in the Makerspace and there may be direct contact with hazardous substances.
- Individuals with health conditions that do not allow or sufficiently guarantee safe work on machines.
Please inform us in advance about any limitations, and we will do our best to find a way for you to work with us.
