Members of RUB
Students, staff, lecturers, researchers, student initiatives, and all other members of RUB can use the RUB Makerspace services with a discount of 80%–100%!
An 80% discount is granted to all RUB members who would like to carry out a project in the context of their work or for personal purposes.
A 100% discount is granted to all RUB members who would like to carry out a project related to entrepreneurship or knowledge transfer, for example a seminar in the context of founding a start-up or an individual start-up project. Whether your project falls into this category is decided by the management of the RUB Makerspace or the Worldfactory Start-up Center.
Seminars and Workshops
We offer all lecturers and student initiatives the opportunity to integrate hands-on workshops in the areas of ideation and prototyping into their seminars, giving students or doctoral candidates the chance to further develop their ideas.
A four-hour ideation workshop normally costs €760!
Projects and Theses
The RUB Makerspace supports hands-on research and teaching!
To develop and implement their own ideas, all RUB members can complete training sessions with us and then independently carry out their projects. Groups can arrange special appointments for the required training sessions.
The use of machines can normally cost several euros per minute, and training sessions typically cost around €200 per unit!
Consulting
We are a diverse team with a wide range of expertise and are happy to support RUB members or seminars with our knowledge on topics such as design, materials, or ideation.
Our consulting time normally costs €43 per 20 minutes!
Usage Times
Individuals who are members of RUB can use the Makerspace on Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm by appointment. Seminars and student initiatives have the advantage of being able to use the Makerspace in certain cases outside regular opening hours, for example in connection with scheduled course times during the respective semester.
Important Note!
Despite our support, the RUB Makerspace is a place where everyone — including RUB members — is expected to make things themselves. We do not carry out commissioned work, and all materials must be organized and paid for independently in advance. We also appreciate receiving photos and short descriptions of the respective projects so that we can share updates about them. Models are also very welcome, as we regularly exhibit new projects in our space.
