Start-ups & Founding Projects at RUB / Worldfactory

As a start-up or founding team supported by us or by the Worldfactory Start-up Center at RUB, you can use our services free of charge!

This is possible because RUB specifically aims to promote the creation of knowledge-based start-ups at the university.
If you work or study at RUB and have a start-up idea, feel free to get in touch with us or the Worldfactory start-up advisory service!

We offer our founding teams the following opportunities:

Machine Use

To develop and build prototypes, you can complete training sessions with us free of charge and then independently create your models and products all the way to market readiness. Series production is only permitted in very small quantities and for testing purposes; regular production is not allowed.

Machine use can normally cost several euros per minute, and training sessions usually cost around €200 per unit!

Consulting

We are a diverse team with a wide range of expertise and are happy to support you with our knowledge on topics such as design, materials, prototyping, and product development.
We also collaborate with the start-up advisory service of the Worldfactory Start-up Center.

Our consulting time normally costs €43 per 20 minutes!

Workshops

We offer our start-up teams the opportunity to attend workshops in the areas of ideation and prototyping, where they can further develop their ideas and products with our professional support.

A four-hour ideation workshop normally costs €760!

Access Hours

As an RUB start-up team, you have the advantage of being able to use the makerspace in certain cases outside regular opening hours, for example when preparing short-notice funding applications.

Important note!

Despite our support, the RUB Makerspace is still a do-it-yourself environment—even for start-up teams. We do not carry out commissioned work, and materials must be brought and paid for by the start-up teams themselves (just like everyone else). We are also happy to receive photos and short descriptions of your projects so we can share updates about them. Old prototypes are very welcome as well, since we regularly showcase new projects in our space.
